About Sanjay Wahal
Dr. Sanjay Wahal is the Founder and CEO of Decarbonization, LLC, a strategic advisory, consulting, and innovation firm focused on translating advances in green science, advanced materials, and systems thinking into commercially viable, scalable solutions.
With more than 30 years of senior leadership experience at the intersection of technology innovation, strategy, and commercialization, Dr. Wahal has built a career spanning industries central to the global climate transition. His work cuts across materials and polymer science, nonwovens, absorbent and hygiene products, advanced manufacturing, cleantech, renewable energy, circular economy solutions, and digital infrastructure—with a consistent focus on moving breakthrough ideas from concept to industrial reality.
Dr. Wahal is widely recognized for his ability to identify, evaluate, and scale emerging technologies, connect science with markets, and guide organizations through complex innovation and investment decisions. He works closely with corporations, startups, investors, and policymakers to manage risk, prioritize high-leverage opportunities, and unlock durable value in a carbon-constrained world.
He holds a PhD and MS in Chemical Engineering from the University of Rhode Island, an MBA in Strategy and Innovation from Vanderbilt University, and a B.Tech. in Chemical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kanpur. His professional journey began as a Postdoctoral Associate at MIT, where he worked under Professor Robert A. Brown, a globally respected chemical engineer and former President of Boston University.
